Sorry to sund neg bt sms prety clear they dont
Can someone explain that from the council or even gay surrey ???????
hey xxxSxxx
I'm still around and so is Connexions!
Connexions are now part of Surrey County Council and their funding for specialist posts like mine are absorbed into the 'core funding' of the Youth Development Services.
There are 3 Twister Youth Clubs, that are really strong. One in Guildford, one in Spelthorne and one in Redhill (Reigate and Banstead BC), the 4th Twister has been closed, not due to funding, but because of a lack of interest mainly. You can find more information on the Gay Surrey website:
http://www.gaysurrey.org/younggaysurrey.htm and the Surrey County Council website:
www.surreycc.gov.uk/twister (my full contact details are available on both these sites.
The young people that are members of Twister have loads of say in how the clubs are run and how the service as a whole can be improved. I have been in touch with well over 200 young people - lots of young people attend Twister, but it is the tip of the iceberg since many young people get in contact purely for advice or a chat.
I can absolutely assure you that the bosses of Surrey Youth Development Services are in full support of the Surrey LGBTQ Young People Service which incorporates the Twister network and they often report its progress to Surrey County Council.
i hope this helps, but feel free to give me a shout!
All the best
Sam
