Why we started Gay Parents in Surrey |
Does any of the following sound familiar?
- Are you a gay parent to a baby, toddler, older child or have children now adults?
- Have you had positive or negative experiences from becoming a gay parent?
- Do you feel it difficult to meet other parents?
- Would you like to join our parents social network group?
- Are you planning to have children in a same sex relationship and would like to meet other parents
- Are you pregnant or going through treatment?
|
Who are we
We are a family based group that hopes to attract male and female parents from across Surrey to meet up, with our children where possible, for a drink and to socialise with like minded people. Maybe you are looking to make friends yourselves or have your children make friends with other children from similar family environments. Or maybe you just want to stop feeling quite so isolated and to feel human again and to be part of a community that cares for and appreciates you.
Everyone is welcome!
Maybe you are a single Mum or Dad, or are in a same sex relationship
Perhaps you are bi-sexual. Are you currently married?
Are you a trans parent?
Are you currently pregnant or looking to have children through IVF or surrogacy?
Have you gone through or looking to go through the Adoption process?
|

| Why |
Okay. No one said being a parent was going to be easy anyway! But how many other same sex parents are there in Surrey who feel ours is a slightly harder task, simply because of social acceptance?
|
| |
OR........ maybe you have received positive feedback from becoming a gay parent and can share your experiences with others?
- Do you worry about, or have you felt excluded from joining baby/toddler groups?
- Do you have concerns over or experience of your child being treated differently at School? Has your School been welcoming?
- Are you a gay parent whose child remains in full time care with an ex-partner? Or are you a married man / woman concerned at how to explain your sexuality to your child?
|
If any of this sounds familiar to you, please join us at the Gay Surrey Parents Network Group. We are always seeking parents to join our social network group, where we meet up regularly to share tea and tales and experiences, good and not so good. We aim to arrange a wide variey of trips out or host a number of fun activities for both parent and child alike. We have children of all different ages in the Network Group and can possibly share all kinds of similar experiences with you.
We can make the network group as involved as you would like. But mainly, we will be there for each other, and our children can socialise with other children in similar situations. |
