The Guildford Area Gay Society - GAGS

Most of these events are held at member's homes, so we cannot advertise events and addresses on this site for privacy reasons.

There's something on every week, always on a Wednesday evening and often at the weekend too! GAGS has a well run and unbroken social programme that offers members a wide choice of things to do throughout the year:

  • coffee evenings in member's homes
  • drinks nights at gay pubs like the Elm Tree (Guildford) and Richmond Arms (Richmond !)
  • visits to nightclubs
  • evening meals and drinks at various local pubs
  • tenpin bowling at the Guildford Spectrum
  • countryside walks followed by refreshments at member's homes
  • day trips (in the last year to places including Brighton , Thorpe Park and the Isle of Wight )

There are also three big annual events:

The Summer Garden Party - with barbeque, stalls and entertainments
The Annual Dinner - with three course meal and show (you have been warned!)
The New Year's Party - where anything goes (allegedly)

The show is kept on the road each year by the GAGS Committee, elected each year at the AGM and GAGS events are advertised to members via a bi-monthly newsletter, the GAGSMag. New ideas are welcomed and members often arrange ad hoc events like theatre or concert trips.

If you're interested in coming along to one of our events or just want to find out a bit more there are various ways you can get in contact with us:

By Telephone. You can chat to one of our committee members, Simon on 01252 370 809. Remember we have a 24/7 Recorded Information line too on 01483 823 757

The Croydon Area Gay Society - CAGS

CAGS is a society for gay men and women in and around Croydon. We have about 75 members.

The Society is over 30 years old, having started out as a local group of the Campaign for Homosexual Equality (CHE).

We offer a full programme of social events, with at least two events per month in members' homes, plus outside events of various kinds.

All members receive a monthly Newsletter with the full social diary, plus articles of interest.

We have a very active Tennis group, playing on Sundays throughout the year, and on Wednesday evenings in the Summer. For further details e-mail us.

CAGS is a member of SLAGO, the Surrey and London Association of Gay Organisations, and of the Consortium of Lesbian, Gay & Bisexual Voluntary and Community Organisations.

We have organised letter-writing by our members on various issues affecting gay people, and we are currently working on a number of campaigning issues.
