I am employed by Surrey Youth Development Service as the Youth Development Worker for young people aged 13-19 who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered or questioning their sexuality or gender identity. My role covers the whole of Surrey and involves supporting three youth groups for LGBTQ young people called "Twister" and other LGBTQ groups that participate in other Youth Development Service provision and working with young people on a one-to-one basis. I deliver training for youth workers and other professionals on sex and relationships education and specific LGBTQ issues. In addition, I develop and co-ordinate county-wide projects. At the moment there are a number of exciting projects being developed including a big arts project called "Identities". I have been a youth worker for many years and have been in this post since June 2009. I am passionate about supporting young people's personal development and promoting equality and inclusion.
