Introducing a brand new, up and coming On-Line Youth Forum for LGBTQ Young People in the South East of England!
The site is designed by 'Mike', a Surrey young person.The site has not only provided forums for various geographical areas in the South East but also areas to discuss education, homophobia and life in general.
There is a 'corner' for Sam King, Connexions LGBTQ Young People Personal Adviser for Surrey Youth Service to update members on her work and research statistics through polls to help fund the LGBTQ Young People's service. Mike, Sam and some of the members also run an advice service and a news group.
The moderation of the site has been tasked to the young people who have a keen interest in creating a safe and friendly LGBTQ environment for young people. Mike also tasked Sam to assist them to run and moderate the site. Find out more about GYSE
Sam King Says
I am absolutely thrilled with the GYSE site! This is exactly the sort of peer led project that can go a long way to help young people feel more comfortable and confident with their sexuality. The fact that I have been invited to be part of this project means that I able to provide support, advice and guidance to a wider scope and number of young people. I am already in contact with a number of new young people that I may not have otherwise had the good fortune to come across, in return these new young people are able to access professional services that they may not have been aware of before.'
Chris Bussicott, head of marketing and development for Connexions adds;
I share Sam's enthusiasm for this terrific initiative. Connexions is all about finding the best ways to provide advice and support for young people, and having an approachable and informative website like GYSE specially created by a young person for the young LGBTQ community is exactly the sort of thing we're delighted to endorse and enthusiastic to work with.' |
